The State Health Systems Resource Centre – Kerala (SHSRC-K) convened the first review meeting of the ICMR-funded research study titled, “Antenatal Salivary Progesterone to Detect Preterm Births and Improve Reproductive Endpoints (ASPIRE): A Prospective Observational Study”, on 26 November 2025.
Over the past 1.5 years, the ASPIRE study has been investigating whether hormone levels analysed from simple, non-invasive samples could support early detection of spontaneous preterm birth. The review meeting was held to present the progress achieved so far, reflect on the challenges encountered, and assess whether any course-correction is required as the project moves forward. The meeting brought together investigators and research staff for constructive discussion on sample collection, participant follow-up, and strategies to address emerging challenges.
The SHSRC–Kerala team remains committed to supporting evidence-based research that advances maternal and new-born health in the state.
