Palliative Care Program Workshop

Palliative Care Program Workshop

The State Health Systems Resource Centre–Kerala (SHSRC-K) conducted a workshop on 25 July 2026 as part of its research study titled "Evaluation of Kerala State Palliative Care Program in Secondary Healthcare Settings: A Mixed-Methods Approach."

The workshop commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Jathavedus Mohanlal, Assistant Director, SHSRC-K, followed by an overview of the study objectives and workshop agenda presented by Dr. Nitha J S, Research Officer, SHSRC-K.

A key component of the workshop was a focused group discussion involving ten frontline healthcare professionals, including nurses and physiotherapists, representing various secondary healthcare facilities across Thiruvananthapuram district. The participants shared their experiences, best practices, and challenges encountered while delivering palliative care services, offering valuable insights into the realities of service delivery at the secondary care level.

The observations and feedback gathered during the discussion will be systematically analyzed by the research team and incorporated into the study's final report. The workshop marked a significant milestone in the evaluation process, reinforcing SHSRC-K's commitment to strengthening Kerala's palliative care programme through evidence-based research and informed policy recommendations.
