Stakeholder Consultative Workshop on NICE (SWAAS) BREATH Trial

A consultative workshop with key stakeholders was organised at SHSRC-K, on 17 July 2025, as part of the ICMR-funded study titled ‘NICE (SWAAS) BREATH Trial’. The primary objective of the session was to collectively design an intervention module for the NICE (Nurse-Initiated, Community Health Worker-Empowered) BREATH Trial, which is set to be evaluated through a cluster randomized trial.


The workshop commenced with a brief overview of the ongoing study by Dr. Jathavedus Mohanlal, Assistant Director, SHSRC-K. This was followed by a presentation of baseline findings by Ms. Reshma P. Nair, Project Research Scientist.


The session welcomed several distinguished guests, including:

Representatives from Family Health Centres (FHC Kadakampalli, FHC Aruvikkara, FHC Balaramapuram) including medical officers, staff nurses and MLSPs, Mr Graison Kenny, Project Technical Support III-SHSRC-K, Neehara Murali, Project Technical Support II, SHSRC-K, Dr Annie John, Research Assistant, SHSRC-K and Ms Greeshma, Intern, SHSRC-K also joined the group discussions.


Stakeholders actively contributed to the development of the intervention module through structured group discussions. These discussions were synthesized and summarized by designated group leads.


The workshop concluded with closing remarks by Dr. V. Jithesh, Executive Director, SHSRC-K, emphasizing the importance of collaborative input in shaping effective community health interventions for the SWAAS Programme.
