State Health Systems Resource Centre Kerala conducted a training workshop on 19 May 2026, for the Nursing Officers and Mid-Level Service Providers (MLSPs) from Kadakampally Family Health Centre and Aruvikkara Family Health Centre as part of the ICMR-funded research project, Nurse Initiated Community Health Worker Empowerment (NICE) Study: Developing a Community-Based COPD Management Package in Primary Health Care Settings — A Randomized Controlled Trial.
The sessions were led by Dr V Jithesh, Executive Director, SHSRC Kerala, and Dr Manu M S, Public Health Specialist and State Coordinator of the SWAAS Programme, who highlighted the significance of integrated community-based approaches in chronic respiratory disease management.
An interactive session on pulmonary rehabilitation a key component of the intervention package was conducted by Hari M Krishnan, Physiotherapist and Group Coordinator at KIMS. The session included practical demonstrations and hands-on learning activities for participants.
Detailed discussions on the intervention framework and implementation plan were facilitated by Reshma P Nair, Project Research Scientist, SHSRC Kerala, and Graison Kenny, Project Technical Support, SHSRC Kerala.
State Health Systems Resource Centre Kerala conducted the second batch of training workshop on the intervention module developed for COPD management in primary healthcare settings was for the Nursing Officers and Mid-Level Service Providers (MLSPs) from Kadakampally Family Health Centre and Aruvikkara Family Health Centre. The workshop was held at the State Health Systems Resource Centre, Kerala, on 26 May 2026, as part of the ICMR-funded research project Nurse-Initiated Community Health Worker Empowerment (NICE) Study: Developing a Community-Based COPD Management Package in Primary Health Care Settings – A Randomized Controlled Trial.
This ensured that a new cohort of participants from these institutions received the same capacity-building initiative designed to strengthen community-level COPD management in primary healthcare.
