The State Health Systems Resource Centre–Kerala (SHSRC-K) held a two-day workshop on September 23rd and 24th to update the tools used for assessing Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) practices in primary and secondary healthcare facilities across Kerala.
The workshop was led by Dr. V. Jithesh, Executive Director, SHSRC-Kerala, and included active participation from experts of the Directorate of Health Services and the Directorate of Medical Education. Participants were divided into groups to review and discuss the draft IPC tool prepared by SHSRC-Kerala, and their feedback helped shape the final version.
Experts who played a key role in refining the IPC checklist included Dr. Aravind R., Head, Department of Infectious Diseases, GMC Thiruvananthapuram; Dr. Sahira H., Associate Professor, Department of Microbiology, GMC Kozhikode; Dr. Sanal Chottu, Assistant Professor, General Surgery, GMC Kozhikode; Dr. Nikhilesh Menon R., Assistant Surgeon, CHC Edapally; Dr. Sreelekha C. P., Consultant, Surgery, GH Thiruvananthapuram; Dr. Aparna B., Assistant Professor, Department of Microbiology, GMC Thiruvananthapuram; Ms. Asha Alex, Nursing Officer Gr. I, PHC Chethalayam, Wayanad; and Ms. Sheena George, Senior Nursing Officer, FHC Poothadi, Wayanad.
The workshop began with a welcome address by Dr. Parvathy Thampy S., Research Officer on Deputation, SHSRC-Kerala. Dr. Jathavedus Mohanlal, Assistant Director, and Mrs. Vismaya Raj K., Research Officer, SHSRC-Kerala, also actively participated and contributed to the discussions.
