Stakeholder Consultative Workshop on NICE (SWAAS) BREATH Trial
On July 17, SHSRC-Kerala organized a stakeholder consultative workshop as part of the ongoing ICMR-funded research project titled "Nurse Initiated Community Health Worker Empowerment (NICE) Study – Developing a Community-Based COPD Management Package in a Primary Healthcare Setting: Randomized Control Trial."
The primary objective of the workshop was to collaboratively design an intervention module for the NICE BREATH Trial.
Ms. Reshma P. Nair, the study's Project Research Scientist, presented the baseline findings. Following this, participants actively engaged in structured group discussions to explore key domains. Resource persons provided invaluable insights during these interactive sessions. Each group subsequently presented their synthesized and summarized outcomes, contributing directly to the intervention's framework.
Dr. V. Jithesh, Executive Director, SHSRC-K, concluded the workshop by emphasizing the importance of collaborative input in shaping effective community health interventions for the SWAAS Programme.
The esteemed resource panel that guided these discussions comprised: Dr. Sanjeev Nair (Associate Professor, Respiratory Medicine, GMC Thiruvananthapuram), Dr. Manu M.S. (Public Health Specialist, State Coordinator, SWAAS Programme, NCD, NHM), Dr. Kamala R. (Assistant Professor, GMC Parippally), Dr. Kiran P. S. (State Nodal Officer, Mental Health Kerala), Mr. Hari M. Krishnan (Group Senior Manager, Physiotherapy, KIMS HEALTH, Thiruvananthapuram), Dr. Akhilesh K. (Professor of Respiratory Medicine, Chief of Amrita Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program, Amrita Hospital Kochi), and Ms. Liya M. B. Pillai (State Nutrition Officer, State Nutrition Office).Additionally, Medical Officers, Staff Nurses, and MLSP nurses from selected Family Health Centres along with SHSRC-Kerala Project Technical Support team participated in the workshop.
